Traditional Thai Massage - Nuad Bo-Rarn

Traditional Thai Massage is very unique as it is performed on cushioned mats on Image of Thai Massagethe floor which allows for many movements and stretches that are not accessible on the traditional massage table.

The client remains fully clothed, in clothing that is unrestrictive to allow the body to be moved into various stretches.

Traditional Thai Massage is made up of palm pressures along ‘sen’ lines (energy lines) along the body and stretching movements. This helps the body’s energy to flow more smoothly.

Image of Thai MassageThe stretching movements are great for allowing greater range of motion and flexibility in joints, and stretching our muscular tension. In some of the stretches you are gently manoeuvred into basic yoga poses. This is why it is sometimes called Thai Yoga Massage or as in Thailand they say ‘Yoga for the Lazy Person’.  At the end of the treatment the body feels more open and you have an overall sense of relaxation.

Feedback between practitioner and client is also essential in finding out the appropriate amount of pressure and stretch during the massage.

A Traditional Thai Massage is performed in around 1 ½ to 2 hours depending on the areas that wish to be focused on.
